1. The copyright of your arrangement and/or composition (hereinafter known as the work(s)) shall remain with you, the composer/arranger (hereinafter known as the composer). Pennine Music Publishing will have a right to your works and will be able to advertise, sell, print, and distribute your works in both hard copy and digital PDF format worldwide
2. Pennine Music Publishing will pay the composer 25% of the retail price per sale of the work for all sales including digital sales and sales of hard copies every quarter. Composers will need to provide bank details or ideally, a PayPal account where monies owed can be paid.
3. Composers will need to supply 1x PDF file containing a FULL score and ALL parts of the work in score order (eg. Soprano Cornet, Solo Cornet, Repiano Cornet etc) NO front cover or text cover is to be included in your PDF, as these shall be generated automatically by our system.
SCORE & PARTS - ENGRAVING & PRESENTATION
4. All parts and score must be legible and engraved to a high standard of quality for musicians to read easily. Please avoid overlapping dynamics, text, accents, etc in both scores and parts.
4a. Scores can be either portrait or landscape orientation and we recommend a minimum staff size in your score of 4.1mm.
4b. We recommending people to use the following fonts for both title and composer/arranger text on their scores and parts. This is not mandatory, but does held bring a sense of professionalism to how the scores look. Fonts suggested :-
• Segoe UI
• Trebuchet MS
• Plantin MT Std
TITLE Text Font Size: 20-30
COMPOSER Text Font Size: 7-10
4c. Parts should be A4 size portrait (or A5 size landscape for Road Marches only). We recommend a minimum staff size of 5.0mm in parts. Should your parts be more than 1 page long per part, we request that best efforts are made to place rests at the bottom right of page 1 to assist in a page turn.
4d. Should your scores/parts not meet the high engraving standards set by Pennine Music, your works might not be accepted for publication.
4e. For creating your PDFs and laying them out correctly with score first, followed by the parts in score order, we recommend the use of a program like Coral PDF Fusion.
5. All submissions shall be reviewed quickly on a case by case basis. The composer will receive an email informing them of acceptance or refusal.
6. Your works will be advertised to over 5,000 customers worldwide and also taken with Pennine Music and the Brass Band Music shop to various trade stands around the UK in hard copy format.
7. The composer has the right to remove their music from the Pennine Music catalogue at any time by making a written request to [email protected].
8. IMPORTANT: Only works in which the composer holds the copyrights to and/or has a licence for will be accepted. This usually means works whose copyrights are held by a third party will not be accepted as this would be a breach of copyright. If your work requires a copyright licence, please contact [email protected] to discuss this matter further. Works out of copyright (Eg. traditional works, hymn tunes, works whose composers died over 70 years ago) and original compositions shall be accepted without any copyright licencing being required.
9. Pennine Music Publishing provides no digital rights management protection (DRM) for PDF files of Titles. PDF files of works sold by Pennine Music are protected with a watermark that shows date customers name/email address as a deterrent against unlawful reproduction or duplication. You agree that this provides adequate protection against unlawful distribution of the works.
10. The Composer must be over the age of 18 and provide their full legal name at the time of submitting their works for publication.
11. Composers residing outside of the UK will only be able to receive Royalties paid to a PayPal nominated account.
12. Sellers are responsible for any income or other taxes due and payable resulting from payments and royalties from Pennine Music Publishing.
13. Pennine Music Publishing will not hold the copyrights to the work and therefore, the composer may continue to sell and distribute their works privately once published by Pennine Music Publishing.
14. By agreeing to all the terms and conditions as laid out above, you are entering into a contract between you (The arranger and/or Composer) with Pennine Music Publishing (the publisher) whereby both parties are in agreement
